Wonderful, Comprehensive Review of AP Econ Topics

Having just received AP scores back for this past year, I think I must give much credit to this book for my AP results.
Some quick background: I am a just-graduated senior, and this past year I took five AP classes (including Macro/Micro, so it was only four AP periods per day). I had to semi-self study economics; my schedule forced me to meet with the econ teacher separately each day and receive the assignments, but I couldn't attend the AP Econ period and hear the lectures, due to a conflict with my AP Physics class. I started using this book as a refresher for micro (my school does micro first semester) in early March, leading into AP's in May.
On both Econ tests I was fortunate enough to receive a score of five.
This book was a HUGE reason why.
First and foremost, it is concise and well-organized. The topics are split up into digestible sections that encourage readers to read the full chapter rather than skim through in too shallow a manner. Because there are only about 20 chapters total, it is easily possible to really know the information in as little as five or ten days. You simply need to read 2-4 sections per day and do the practice problems.
The second point in its favor is the problem sets it contains. Personally, I am a fan of seeing more problems and figuring out the theory from the answers (ie - more practice problems and less reading), so I was glad that this book had a good number of practice questions, especially for macro. Furthermore, in my experience the questions were accurate to the format of the exam MC questions:
DISCLAIMER* (I am NOT giving away AP questions, College Board, I am simply saying that the form of the questions was similar).
The FRQ's are well-suited to the material, and reinforce the topics presented. HOWEVER, I strongly suggest supplementing this (and any) book with the FRQ's from the past five years' exams. Log in to College Board, find AP Econ, and the FRQ's going back ten years are posted in PDF format - print them out along with the provided answer keys to get a sense of what topics are repeated and how often. In this sense, the FRQ's in the Barrons book (like the FRQ's in most review books) are of limited value to actual AP FRQ's but are very useful towards cementing the understanding of the multiple choice content.
My only gripe with this book is that there is only one full-length practice test per exam (one macro, one micro), and that the micro half [one of them at least - I think it was micro] had few MC questions for practice after each chapter. Every relevant topic was covered in these questions, yes, but nonetheless there is no harm in including 2-3 questions per topic instead of the bare minimum [about 25 additional MC questions per exam can be found on College Board, in the files with the syllabi; included in each downloadable syllabus are 20-25 MC questions with answers at the end].
I wish that there had been another test for Macro and Micro (or more for that matter), and I was considering marking it down as such. However, in my research on other books (Princeton Review, etc), I found that every book generally had one test per subject. So, in honor* of the subject, I decided on five stars because the *opportunity cost* of a different book is NO ADDITIONAL PRACTICE TESTS THAN THIS ONE.
Given that, you would be hard pressed to find a book better able to get you fives on these exams.
In a matter of 7-8 weeks I read through this entire book end-to-end; the writing is clear, concise, cogent, and engaging. And if you do this, there is no way you can't get two fives. This book covers everything and does not waste your time.

AP Econ Barron's

This is the best review book for AP Econ. My son used this alone to self-study through the summer of 2012 and used to revise in May 2013 for the AP exam. First time in Economics and he gets a 5 , for both Micro and Macro. That in a sense is this book, its more than enough to get you through AP Econ, which is one of the easier AP exams, plus just by studying one book, you get to be able to take 2 AP Exams, no other way to increase your AP Exams success numbers than by one book take 2 exams. Good on all areas, best on Macro, more than sufficient. Better yet if you have study AP Economics in Senior year school class, this provides an outstanding study companion better than any text book. Highly Recommended.

Barrons for AP exams always a good decision.

I should have used this instead of the text book as this was not only easier to read but I comprehended the information out of this book more so than the teacher and then book combined. Not that he couldn't teach I just could not grasp his method.
