Frustrating typos, difficult questions.

I took the Mechanical FE and studied from this book. The book has one full Mechanical Exam and one full General Exam, with a solution manual. I took the Mechanical practice test, and could only even get to around 1/2 the questions before running out of time. As a result, I thought I was in very poor shape for the real exam, and carefully examined all the wrong and skipped questions I had.
In my review, I was constantly frustrated by poorly worded questions, typos, wrong solutions, and other mistakes.
When I took the actual FE exam, I was shocked by how much simpler the exam questions were compared to those I had seen in the practice book. Instead of spending several lines of scrap paper on about half of the questions, most of the actual exam questions were one line of simple calculations. I'm not sure what exam the authors wrote this book for, but it certainly wasn't the exam I took.
"Train hard, Win easy" might be your motto, but even so I would advise you to find a review book with better editing. It certainly scared me into over-preparing and helped me pass the exam, but I wouldn't recommend this book.

than it may not be the best book for you

This book is 1/2 Mechanical and and 1/2 Other Disciplines so if your planning to concentrate on taking Electrical/ Computer, Civil, etc. than it may not be the best book for you. The Price was good though. I purchased because I thought it was the newest format since the format changed. I'll study the subjects that every FE has... ethics, math, but it still has all the subjects of the original FE format much that I don't need to study for anymore.

Rife with typos, poor editing and proofreading.

This book is rife with typos. My professor used this book to teach part of a class, specifically Chapter 17. It seemed every day there was a new email informing us that a sign in one of the equations was wrong, or that one of the subscripts was a typo. Additionally, on many of the diagrams and charts, things are mislabeled or arrows missing or misaligned. Very sloppy editing work - honestly a disappointment.
It comes as no surprise that the author of this book is one of the teachers for this course, and is the reason it is the required textbook.
